Are you happy?

December 13, 2020 by George Chen in Hong Kong

42 years and still counting...

“Are you happy?” This local bakery is well known in the Wan Chai neighbourhood for its traditional Hong Kong-style bread and cakes. When asked by the media about the shop name, the boss said he just wanted whoever came to his shop to buy and eat his bread and cakes can feel happier.

Life is both simple and complicated, always pending on your greed and vision.

You know why I love Hong Kong?

Hong Kong may not be the most elegant city in the world (like Vienna) or the most orderly one (like Singapore). It’s definitely not the happiest place in the world (like Copenhagen) or the most fancy one (like Dubai).

It’s not so ancient (like Cairo) but it also feels traditional (like Taipei). It’s about the legacy (like London) but also about hope as we see the sun rises everyday tomorrow. If you live longer, you will dare to see more changes, for better or for worse.

Hong Kong is real. I love Hong Kong because it is real.
